About us

Most Danes have never heard of Sarajevo. It's time to change that.

Hej Sarajevo is created based on a strong personal connection between Denmark and Bosnia-Herzegovina. We bridge the gap between Danes and Bosnians through travel, experiences, and authentic promotion of Sarajevo as a destination.
The project is led by people with Bosnian roots who have lived in Denmark for over 35 years. Over the years, we have maintained close ties to our country of origin, and our networks in both Denmark and Bosnia have given us a deep insight into the culture, history, and not least the capital, Sarajevo.
The idea behind "Hej Sarajevo" arose naturally through our circle of acquaintances in Denmark, where interest in Bosnia and Sarajevo grew significantly. Many of our Danish friends and acquaintances showed great curiosity about the country, its history, and the unique experiences that aren't always easily accessible through traditional travel channels.
Our goal is to inform, inspire, and make it easy for Danish travellers to experience Sarajevo in an authentic and safe way. We want to show the city from a local perspective – not just the well-known sights, but also the hidden gems, the culture, the food, and the people behind it all.
Hello Sarajevo is therefore more than a travel project. It is a cultural link between two worlds, where we share our knowledge and passion for creating meaningful travel experiences.
We collaborate with local guides and partners in Sarajevo to ensure high-quality, authentic experiences and a direct connection to the city that we know and love ourselves.
The objective is simple: to make Sarajevo accessible, understandable, and unforgettable for Danish travellers.

Meet the people behind Hello Sarajevo

Hej Sarajevo is created by two people with Bosnian roots and Denmark as their home. We know Sarajevo from the inside - the streets, the food, the history, and the people behind it. And we want to show you a city that deserves much more attention than it gets.

Emina Bander Hadzic

“Sarajevo isn't just a destination for me – it's a place filled with memories, history, and people, which will always feel like home.”

My name is Emina, and I was born in Bosnia-Hercegovina, but I grew up in Denmark, where I today live in Esbjerg with my family. My roots originate from Sarajevo, and the city has forever held a very special place in my heart.
In my day-to-day job, I work as a social pedagogue, where I'm passionate about working with people and creating safe and positive experiences. I bring that same passion into my work with Hej Sarajevo.
My relationship with Sarajevo is both personal and professional. I have lived and worked in the city for a Danish company, which gave me an even deeper understanding of Sarajevo, its culture, and the people who make the city so special. Sarajevo is our second home.
With Hej Sarajevo, I want to share our love for Sarajevo with others and give Danish travellers the opportunity to experience the city through local eyes. Sarajevo is a city with a fascinating history, a unique culture, and a warmth that is rarely found elsewhere in the world.
My goal is to create authentic and memorable travel experiences, where guests don't just visit Sarajevo but also gain a genuine understanding of the city's soul, its people, and the special atmosphere that will not soon be forgotten.
Together we represent the best of both worlds: Danish thoroughness, structure and security combined with local Bosnian knowledge, networks and a genuine love for a city we both hold dear. My goal is simple: to give you an experience that not only shows you Sarajevo, but makes you feel it.

Elvin Bubalo

“I believe that the best travel experiences arise when you encounter a city through the people who know and love it.”

Hello, my name is Elvin, I am 46 years old and live in Varde with my family. I was born in Bosnia but have lived most of my life in Denmark, and I am deeply grateful for both.
In my day-to-day, I run the recruitment agency MatchlyNordic, and I have a background as an engineer and manager with over 25 years of professional experience. I know what it means to have responsibility for other people, and I know what it takes to deliver on promises.
But Hello Sarajevo is about something completely different than work. It's about a city that has given me my identity. Sarajevo is not just a destination for me, it's the place where my family comes from, where the streets smell familiar, and where I still feel at home even though I've lived in Denmark for many years.
I've seen Danes travel to the same destinations again and again, and I've thought: They have no idea what they're missing out on. Sarajevo has it all. The history, the food, the culture, the warmth of the locals, and an authenticity that's hard to find anywhere else in Europe.
Therefore we made Hello Sarajevo. Not to sell a trip. But to share something we cherish with people who deserve an experience beyond the ordinary.
When you travel with us, you aren't travelling with an anonymous agency. You're travelling with us and our network, and we put our name to every aspect of the experience.

When you travel with Hey Sarajevo, it's us you're talking to. Not a call centre operative. Not a chatbot. You're talking to US.
